PNS Council Meetings
13th Council Meeting
The 13th Meeting of PNS Council was held on Tuesday, 4th January, 2022 at PNS office. The council deliberated upon agenda items notified vide PNS CM-13/2020-22 dated 1-1-2022. The Vice President, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khaleeq, officiating as President, presided the meeting. The officiating President congratulated Council members on successfully completing half of their tenure in good standing. He also expressed his satisfaction on successful holding two important events in the last months; i) AGM and annual dinner which was very well attended by PNS members including their families held on 18th December, 2021 and ii) Seminar on Applications of Nuclear Techniques for the Development of Agriculture Sector in Pakistan held on 27th December, 2021. The council approved issuance of e-Certificate to all new joining members, allowing membership of PNS in student category and preparation of PNS brochures.
12th Council Meeting
The 12th Meeting of PNS Council was held on Tuesday, 7th December, 2021 at PNS office in PAEC Resthouse to deliberate upon agenda notified vide PNS CM-12/2020-22 dated 6-12-2021. The Vice President, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khaleeq, Officiating as President, presided over the meeting, in the absence of Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi. The Officiating President in his opening remarks expressed his satisfaction with holding three seminar events in the last month. These seminars were 1) Advances in Nuclear Medicine at GINUM; 2) Security of Nuclear and Radioactive Material-Pakistan’s Efforts at PNRA; 3) Afforestation of Global Deserts for Sustainable Future of Earth Environments, held at PAS. The Council approved the Minutes of the 11th council meeting and reviewed the arrangements & program for the AGM & Annual Dinner of PNS scheduled for 18th December 2021. The calendar of events up to June 2021 was also discussed and updated with the inclusion of some new seminar topics.
11th Council Meeting
The 11th Meeting of PNS Council was held on 2nd November, 2021 at PAEC Rest house. The President chaired the meeting in presence of all council members. The President in his preliminary remarks shared some of the key meetings & events of the preceding month like visit of DG ACDA, Outreach visit activity of PNS delegation to Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology. The Council deliberated on agenda notified vide PNS CM-11/2020-22 dated 29-10-2021 and approved the minutes of 10th council meeting. The focus of deliberations remained on organization & assessment of arrangements of events planned for November & December, 2021 that included seminar on Advances of Nuclear Medicine, at GINUM, seminar on Security of Nuclear and Radioactive Material-Pakistan’s Efforts at PNRA, seminar on “Afforestation of Global Deserts for Sustainable Future of Earth Environments” at PAS, Annual General Meeting & Annual Dinner to be hosted on 18th December 2021. Council also analyzed preparations for SAB meeting and approved the proposal of issuance of Certificates to PNS contact persons (PCPs).
10th Council Meeting
The 10th Meeting of PNS Council was held on 5th October, 2021 at PAEC Rest house. The President chaired the meeting with full presence of council members. The council deliberated on agenda notified vide PNS CM-10/2020-22 dated 30-09-2021 and approved the minutes of 9th council meeting. The President recapped some of the key meetings & events of the preceding month and reviewed the progress of the sub committees and follow up of decisions taken in last meeting. Council expressedsatisfaction with PNS website & entrusted VP to train two other council members as backup resource persons. The Editor of PNS Newsletter shared ready to print status of 3rd quarter featuring various activities & news including that of PNS lifetime members honored with national civil awards with Chairman PAEC Mr. Muhammad Naeem decorated with highest civil award of Nishan-e-Imtiaz. Council discussed the preparations for holding SAB meeting, seminar on Advances in Nuclear Medicine planned for 4th November in GINUM, Gujranwala and on convening AGM of PNS in December, 2021 and to form “Administrative Advisory Board” AAB. The council also consented to invite think tanks and other organizations that had been visited by PNS delegations earlier and also finalized program of short hike for PNS members, their friends and families to take place in the last week of October.
9th Council Meeting
The 9th Meeting of PNS Council was held on Tuesday, 7thSeptember, 2021at PNS office in PAEC Rest house to deliberate upon agenda notified vide PNS CM-06/2020-22 dated 03-9-2021. The meeting was presided over by Officiating President, Dr. Tahir Khaleeq, with the exception of the President and General Secretary.The OfficiatingPresident in his opening remarks expressed his pleasureon receiving of national civil awards by eleven (11) PNS lifetime Membersand briefed about PNS activities i) visit to PAEC Foundation, ICCC ii) meeting with Ex-Chairman PAEC Mr. Anwar Ali iii) cancelation of student debate at PIEAS during the month of August. The Council approved the minutes of the 8th council meeting, reviewed the progress & status update of work assigned to sub committees, agreed to offer internship for management of PNS office records, arrange the seminar on Development of Cancer Treatment Facilities in Pakistan in September 2021 and initiation of essay writing competition with the support of PNS -SAB.
8th Council Meeting
The 8th Meeting of PNS Council, agenda notified vide PNS CM-08/2020-22 dated 01-08-2021, was held on Tuesday, 3rd August, 2021 at PNS office in PAEC Rest house. The President, Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi, chaired the meeting with eight council members in attendance. The council approved the minutes of 7th council meeting. The President congratulated council and the editorial team on successfully releasing of high quality 2nd issue of PNS newsletter and updated on the progress in nomination process for Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) & PNS contact persons and taking up issues of pensioners of strat commissions with Pay & Pension commission. President also briefed about the visit of PNS delegation to PIEAS. The council reviewed the progress of the sub committees and follow up of decisions taken in last meetings. Council strongly felt the need to motivate & urge existing members through personal efforts to participate in PNS activities on voluntary basis and deliberated on strategies to make the society member driven.
7th Council Meeting
The 7th Meeting of PNS Council was held on Tuesday, 6th July 2021, in the Committee Room of PAEC Rest house, Islamabad, to deliberate upon agenda notified vide PNS CM-06/2020-22 dated 03-7-2021. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi, President PNS. All Council members were in attendance with the exception of the General Secretary. The President in his opening remarks congratulated the Council on successful completion of one quarter of its tenure through achieving defined milestones. With reference to the activities during the month of June, he appreciated the efforts of Council members for organizing webinar on Science Diplomacy in collaboration with Virtual University (VU)and visit to the Strategic Vision Institute (SVI). The Council approved the minutes of the 6th council meeting, reviewed the progress & status update of work assigned to sub committees, agreed to offer internships for students, arrange a colloquium session of the students at PIEAS, continue visits to think-tank, finalize the list of Scientific Advisory Board and enhance collaboration with PNS Members individually by PNS Council Members.
6th Council Meeting
The 6th Meeting of PNS Council was held on Tuesday, Ist June, 2021 at PNS office in PAEC Rest house to deliberate upon agenda notified vide PNS CM-06/2020-22 dated 29-5-2021. The meeting was presided over by President, Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi, with full presence of council members. The President in his opening remarks congratulated council and organizing team for i) successful holding of seminar in cooperation with PAEC and PSF at NIFA Peshawar, ii) The signing of agreement between PNS and Pakistan Physical Society (PPS). President also briefed about the visit of Secretary PAEC, Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmed, on invitation of PNS to President’s office and about the Socrates Hour in Pakistan (SHIP) activity organized by Nuclear Medicine Society and recommended organization of such activity on similar pattern by PNS. The Council approved the minutes of the 5th council meeting, reviewed the progress & status update of work assigned to sub committees, agreed on the Issues to be discussed on anticipated visit of DG ACDA, agreed to holding talks of volunteer speakers on the pattern of “TedX”, Agreed on developing PNS through members led initiatives and to invite voluntary services of PNS member community in ongoing work scope of PNS.
5th Council Meeting
The 5th Meeting of PNS Council was held on Tuesday, 4th May, 2021 with members participating virtually over Zoom application. The meeting was presided over by President, Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi. In his opening remarks President expressed special thanks for Chairman PNRA, Mr. Faizan Mansoor, for his gracious invite and meeting with PNS Council and offering his full cooperation, support in matters of mutual interest. The council approved the minutes of the 4th council meeting, SOP’s on holding of Webinar and arrangements for holding of Seminar at NIFA on the topic of Applications of Nuclear Techniques in Industry & signing of reciprocal societies agreement with Pakistan Physical Society, PNS activities calendar upto June 2022, Criteria for selection of personality to be interviewed for PNS Newsletter, Criteria for renowned scientists profile. The progress of sub committees on their assigned work scope was also reviewed & proposals for revenue generation options for PNS were also discussed.
4th Council Meeting
The 4th Meeting of PNS Council was held on Tuesday, 6th April, 2021 over Internet with members connected through Zoom Application. The meeting was presided over by President, Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi, The meeting commenced with the opening remarks of President in which he shared about the admittance of Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti, Rector Virtual University, as life member of PNS and Meeting of President PNS with DG SPD on his invite. The house approved the minutes of the 3rd council meeting, reviewed the progress & status update of work assigned to sub committees, approved printing of 200 copies of newsletter besides circulating its soft copy to all members, reviewed the MoU for partnership on reciprocal basis with Pakistan Physical Society and Signing of MoU with SASSI. The house also deliberated on proposals for activities leading to sustainable revenue generation for PNS.
3rd Council Meeting
The 3rd Meeting of PNS Council was held on Tuesday, 2nd March, 2021 at Board/Meeting room of PAEC Rest house to deliberate upon agenda notified vide PNS CM-03/2020-22 dated 28-02-2021. The meeting was presided over by President, Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi, and was attended by seven council members. The house approved the minutes of the 2nd council meeting, reviewed the progress & status update of work assigned to sub committees, agreed on holding increased number of social & recreational events for PNS members and approved holding of Eid Milan and annual Gala dinner functions.
2nd Council Meeting
The 2nd Meeting of PNS Council was held on Tuesday, 2nd February, 2021 at Board/Meeting room of PAEC Rest house to deliberate upon agenda notified vide PNS CM-02/2020-22 dated 30-01-2021. The meeting was presided over by President, Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi, with full presence of council members in the meeting. The meeting commenced with the opening remarks of President in which he expressed satisfaction on the rapid achievement of certain targets like increased office space, logo, letterhead design, Internet connectivity, extensive effort to launch website, quick succession of letters for one-time grant and restating of recurrent grant. The meeting then proceeded by approving the minutes of the first council meeting and by reviewing the progress of working committees constituted and tasked with assignments with a specific scope and specialized focus. These committees presented their work progress and shared proposals on forming PNS Chapters and Contact persons, forming expert groups and scientific advisory boards, activities to be taken up in the year 2021 and reviewed the MOU to be signed with SASSI.
1st Council Meeting
Meeting of PNS Council was held on Tuesday, December 29th 2020 at Board/Meeting room of PAEC Rest house to deliberate upon proposed agenda. The meeting was presided over by PNS President, Dr. Imtinan Elahi Qureshi, and was attended by all other members of the council. In the opening meeting of the council various matters regarding; new website, transfer of accounts, newsletter, educational activities, cooperation with nuclear think tanks and other scientific societies, membership cards and membership drive, logo design etc were discussed and finalized.
